Knut
Dethlefsen - Director of the Representation in Poland of the Friedrich
Ebert Foundation
Knut Dethlefsen heads the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES) Warsaw office from October 2009. Before he was in charge of the FES offices in Shanghai and in East Jerusalem. Knut Dethlefsen was on a voluntary service spell from 1990 to 1992 with the International Youth Meeting Centre in Oświęcim/Auschwitz, whereupon he studied history, economics and political science in Berlin, Taipei and Washington DC. Before joining the FES he worked for a German-Polish Youth Co-operation project in Potsdam and with US Senator Dianne Feinstein foreign policy staff in Washington DC.
Next to German he speaks fluent English and fairly well Polish and Chinese. Knut Dethlefsen is member, among others, of the SPD, the ver.di trade union, and the Action Reconciliation Service for Peace (Aktion Sühnezeichen Friedensdienste, ARSP). He publishes regular articles and comments on international politics, social democracy and historical memory in political journals and the daily press.

Joanna Andrychowicz - research assistant
Joanna Andrychowicz has been working as a research associate in the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Warsaw office since October 2010. She studied Applied Linguistics at the Warsaw University, and has been doing her phd studies at the German philology of the Warsaw University. She was granted the International Parliamentary Scholarship of the German Bundestag. Joanna Andrychowicz gained her professional experience in the Chancellery of the Sejm and various NGOs. Her responsibilities in the FES Warsaw office include foreign and security policies, historical studies and public relations. Except for Polish she speaks both German and English

Krzysztof
Getka -research assistant, trade unions and social dialogue
Krzysztof Getka has been with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Warsaw office from September 1993. As research associate he works for the FES Regional Trade Union Co-operation Project with focus on labour relations and social dialogue.
Before he joined the FES he worked for two years as research associate with the Warsaw Technical University Economics and Social Science Institute.
Krzysztof Getka studied journalism and political science in Warsaw and social science in Berlin. In 2002 to 2005, he worked as participant in the World Economic Survey with the IFO-Munich Institute for Economic Research.
Next to Polish he speaks German fluently and fairly well English and Russian. He serves as chairman of the supervisory board of Centrum.CSR.pl, the Polish chapter of the corporate responsibility centre, and sits on the board of a Polish Migrant Workers Association.

Julia
Walter - research assistant
Julia Walter works as research associate with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Warsaw office from January 2010. Her main responsibilities include Eastern European politics, equal status issues, and civil society development. She is also in charge of contacts to social democratic partners in Poland and Germany. Before she joined the FES she studied, on a scholarship support from the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, political science in Berlin, Wrocław and Warsaw. Next she took a job as research assistant with the German Bundestag, and subsequently as office manager for the SPD federal operations head.
Next to German she speaks Polish, English and French. Julia Walter is member oft he SPD and of an Association for Student Exchange Programmes in Central- and Eastern Europe (GFPS). e-mail: jwalter(at)feswar.org.pl
