The Case of China
On October 12, 2011 the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung and the think-tank demosEuropa jointly held a panel discussion entitled, "The Case of China". The discussion was a summing up of expert workshops conducted over two days. The discussion sought answers to the questions: 'Quo vadis, China?' and 'How might Europe influence China's course?'. Participating in the discussion were i.a., deputy to the Bundestag Dietmar Nietan, Joerg Wuttke from BASF in Beijing, and Professor Bogdan Góralczyk, a sinologist who has served as Poland's ambassador in several Asian countries.

The Future of the Euro
In cooperation with demosEuropa and the news weekly Polityka, on September 22, 2011 the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung held a conference in Warsaw on the future of the euro. During two panel discussions the prospects for a European financial architecture were addressed by i.a., Professor Gerhard Illing from the University of Munich, Dr Waltraud Schelkle from the London School of Economics, and Jakob von Weizsäcker from the Economics Ministry of Germany's Thuringia Land. Introductory remarks were delivered by undersecretary of state in the Polish Ministry of Finance Maciej H. Grabowski, and deputy to the Bundestag Carsten Schneider of the SPD fraction.

To live and decide in a brave new media world
On 7th June 2011, the workshop "More democracy via internet?" asked for the role of the internet for the future of the democratic society. The event was hosted by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and "Krytyka Polityczna".

Typical Polish, typical German: Just a stereotype?
On 19 th May 2011 the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Warsaw organized in cooperation with the German Embassy in Poland a debate concerning "Typical Polish, typical German: Just a stereotype?". The cabaret artist Steffen Möller and Polish and German guests discussed which stereotypes are attributed to the Polish in Germany and the other way around.

11th Schuman Parade in Warsaw
Warsaw has hosted the Schuman Parade already for the 11th time this year. Therefore, 14 FES scholarship holders came to visit Warsaw, take part in the parade and discuss their expectations of a social Europe.

12th International Conference "Industrial regions in Europe - progress and environment"
On 14 and 15 April 2011, the 12th International Conference "Industrial regions in Europe - progress and environment" has been launched by Otto-Brenner Foundation (OBS) in Katowice. As in previous years, the organization of the conference has been a co-operation between OBS, Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Hans-Böckler Foundation (HBS) and the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC).

Can ecological industrial policy befriend environment and economic policy?
So far, environment and economic policies were perceived as competitors. An ecological industrial policy seems to deliver a solution for this conflict. But is a restructuring of the industrial society possible? Can industries economize efficiently and be sustainable at the same time? Following an invitation by Friedrich Ebert Foundation Warsaw and The Institute of Public Affairs (IPS), these questions have been discussed on 1st April 2011. Referees were Hubertus Heil, deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group for the sector economy and labour; Dariusz Szwed, chairman of the Polish party "Zieloni 2004", and Prof Dr Elżbieta M±czyńska, chairwoman of the Polish Economic Society.

Poverty and social exclusion
On 24 th March 2011, in cooperation with "Amicus Europae", the Friedrich Ebert Foundation Warsaw organized the conference "Poverty and social exclusion". This event's venue was within the buildings of the Polish parliament (Sejm). Subsequently to this event, a study has been published dealing with the same topic.

Willy Brandt and Poland. Overcome the division of Europe,
On 16 th March 2011, the exhibition "Willy Brandt and Poland. Overcome the division of Europe" has been opened by Friedrich Ebert Foundation. The exhibition in the library of ŁódĽ will be open until mid of May. In course of the opening, the University of ŁódĽ invited the Friedrich Ebert Foundation to a scientific seminar.
Energy and climate policy vs. new sources of growth in Europe - competition or interdependency
In order to compare notes with Polish colleges on site, the Deputy Chairman of the SPD parliamentary group Ulrich Kelber has stayed in Warsaw for two days at the beginning of March. The cause was a conference dealing with the topic "Energy and climate policy vs. new sources of growth in Europe - competition or interdependency", organized by Friedrich Ebert Foundation in cooperation with the Polish Think Tank demosEuropa.

New decade, new Europe
In course of a series of debates called "New decade, new Europe", the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Warsaw organized a debate in cooperation with the French Cultural Centre and the Foundation "Centrum im. Profesora Bronisława Geremka" on 24 th January 2011. This event concerned "The EU budget in times of the crisis".
